ALL-INDIANA CROSSROADS CONFERENCE BASEBALL TEAM SELECTIONS

In 2010 Lutheran High School became a charter member of the ICC, Indiana Crossroads Conference. Lutheran joined with Park Tudor, Cardinal Ritter, Speedway Scecina Memorial, Lapel and Beech Grove.

In 2013 Triton Central joined the ICC. Lapel left the ICC in 2015 and Monrovia joined in their place.

Today the ICC consists of Lutheran, Beech Grove, Cardinal Ritter, Scecina Memorial, Triton Central, Speedway, Monrovia. Over the past few years, Park Tudor has left the ICC and Cascade has joined and left. Starting in 2026, Beech Grove, Monrovia, Speedway and Triton Central will be leaving the ICC to begin a new conference of public schools.

Certainly from a baseball standpoint, the ICC was very competitive. In several years, five of the schools would win Sectionals and the schools that did not were defeated in one of the same Sectionals. Lutheran was the only 1A school.

In the first few years, we also had a Conference Tournament. Though an interesting idea, we had the tournament a week or so before the Sectional and it wore out our teams. I recall one year when we had to play three games in three days. Our pitching was gone and our team was gassed. I did not miss the ICC Tournament. We typically played each Conference foe one time during the season and the champion was the school with the best record. Currently the schools in the ICC play each other two times, home and away, during the season. I believe they play on Tuesday and Wednesday with Thursday the rainout date.

At the end of the season, voting was done by the coaches for an All-ICC Baseball Team. It seems that the first couple of seasons the coaches met and decided which of their players would be on the team. At some point, the voting became very structured. Players were nominated and then coaches voted on the players from one to twenty and the players with the most points were selected to the team. Also, depending on the school's Conference record, it was determined how many players could be nominated from that school. The Championship team could nominate the most and the last place team could nominate the fewest.
